Plane Ride for Vicki and Lisa

Here are a few pictures from our plane ride over Iceland and Greenland.  The rainbow one is from the plane while we were coming in for a landing.  We thanked God for keeping us safe and sound!!  Please pray for the Nebraska people still coming home tonight.

Thursday's Camp

Today we had sunshine and rain. The theme for the day is agriculture and we enjoyed the classes as well as crafts, such as alligators and more paper mache; music with rhythms and movement, and drama with the kids popping balloons which had the name of an animal or food inside and then they had the rest of the class guess what they drew from clues they gave. We have learned many new songs and have been able to have many outside activities. Tonight the kids are outside playing kickball and four square. The local grocery store is enjoying a landmark business with all the teachers and now the students making daily trips to supplement our meals. We still haven't had our s'mores yet. Final Goodbyes

It is time for us to say our final goodbyes.  I will be traveling with Vicki on LOT.  I pray that everyone has safe journeys home!!  I love all of you and pray for all of you each and every day!!  God's Blessings!

Krakow

Well after a downer of a day yesterday, saying goodbye to the campers and our Polish counselors we headed to Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration camps. The temperature was in the high 80's and a higher dew point so we felt we could smell the death and destruction of the lives that were so needlessly wasted. It is one of those kind of sad days that I don't like to repeat. We didn't get to dinner until after 8:00, but it was very tasty. Then we had to have Gelato for dessert!! We missed Ewelina in Krakow. I was very sad as we have a very special bond that has grown over the years. After such an emotional day we headed back to our hostel to sleep. On Friday, we had devotions led by Katie with a sermon in a sack made famous by Pastor James for the children's sermon at Holy Savior. Chelsea pick out a campers name badge. She talk about praying for the campers and that we are children of God and that one day we will all get to live together or meet here on earth. Great Devo!! Then we hit the streets!! Another hot and humid day. I was hoping for cooler weather over here, but no suck luck. Pastor, Iwona and I went to get the Pro Wo Jung Lee at a little store by our hostel. When we asked for 21, he said, "Are you Kidding??" They only had 3 but they will have the rest after 4:30. We walked back to the market square. It was fun. I got all my shopping done. But some others had a big list. At 2:30 we walked Iwona to the bus station. Another sad day!! It is with all my hope that God will great me the financial ability to come back here again.

August 2nd

Here are some of the pictures that I took for our chapel service this morning. As has been our tradition at camp we sang Michael W. Smith's song, "Friends". Rikki and I started getting the campers to hold hands and make a big circle around the chapel as we sang this song with tears running down our faces and praising our Lord and Savior. Until we meet again; if it be here on Earth or up in heaven. We only want to lift your name up!!

Pictures from August 1st

Sorry these didn't get posted until today. But I was busy with downloading pictures from everyone and they were copying 8+ gb of pictures!!

Wednesday, August 1st

Today we continued our tearful journey toward the close of camp. At breakfast, painted in the eyes many of the campers and some of the staff were, a watershed waiting to break loose. We give thanks to God for a beautiful day which permitted us a trek to the local shops to treat our campers to cool sweet creamy treat - ice cream. There was a sweet smile on the face of everyone at camp. The beautiful day continued to be blessing enabling us to enjoy being outdoors for sports. With the windows open in the chapel we could hear the campers joyfully praising God as they sang the songs they learned during camp. As the campers have moved from one workshop to another one could always hear their joyful voices. I had a fun quick game of "Frisbee" with several campers who were enjoying the disc they made in crafts. We closed the evening with a game of Prison Break, a Dodgeball game, and chapel. When the bell rang for us to bring our game to an end 70 plus sweaty bodies poured into the chapel with some already mixing sweat and tears knowing that this is our last chapel together. During our closing chapel the campers raised the roof in a puddle of tears. It is difficult for us to keep dry eyes when we are enfolded in the arms of tearful goodbyes from our campers. The sea of tears has yet to dry. Tomorrow is the real goodbye as we spend out last few hours together, pack our bags, and board a bus for Krakow. It is not really goodbye, but see you later . . . we just don't know when later will be. Written by Pastor James
