Today, the second full day of camp, was an fantastic sampling of new experiences for the campers in music, sports, and lessons. While the English lessons focused on the southeastern portion of the United States (alligators, swamps, rockets, blue grass, etc.) the Bible lesson zeroed in on something all of us needed to be reminded of and assured of: "God wants you a lot!" (The Parable of the Lost Coin - Luke 15). This Biblical truth is, in many ways, one of the overarching themes each year at the Jawornik English Camp. There are often campers who come here, much like the people we encounter each day, who need assurance of God's amazing love. Whom has God placed along your path with whom you can share with them through actions and words: "God wants you a lot!"?

The First Day of Classes

Following the conclusion of the American Counsellors meeting this evening, everyone agreed on one thing: The campers have already exceeded our expectations in more than one way. Even though two thirds of the campers are new this year, multiple of them have already come out of their shells and connected emotionally with us Americans, despite the language barrier and also with each other. Another way they have blown us away is through their desire to work as a team, today during sports especially. While playing dodgeball the campers asked to play counsellors against campers. During this game, the campers surprised all of the counsellors with their endless amounts of team work. They did so well working as a team that they even schemed a plan and won two games out of three despite the counsellors trying their hardest to win. With all this happening today on the first full day of camp, there is no telling what God has in store for the rest of the camp.

The Campers Arrive!

After all the long hours of preparation, the travel to Poland, and setting up of camp,  THE CAMPERS HAVE ARRIVED!!!

As we were doing the evaluations, we noticed how some of the previous campers English has vastly improved.  We greeted old campers with big hugs and smiles, while trying to ease the nervousness of the new campers and parents.  God is the center of this camp!

Polish Counselors Arrive

So my wonderful day started by church with the message from Pastor Sztwiertnia.  He talked about Jesus choosing his disciples and then they were in turn to go find other people and tell them about Jesus.   Then I got the wonderful privilege of going with Peter and Bozena to see their home, their future home and the parish he will serve in next month.   It is hard to believe that I have been here 8 times and made such great friends that I feel they are family.  I came back to camp and did a puzzle with Emilka.  After keeping a secret for 5 months, the rest of the team found out that Lukasz and Monika are having a baby boy.  They picker out material and I made them a quilt, bibs, and a receiving blanket.

I can not believe that all the preparations are finally done and I am here.   I love you all very much.  It is good to be home again!

We're Heading to Poland!
